FIRE SAFETY

Fire safety training is a vital part of a comprehensive safety training programme within a company big or small. Fire is probably one of the top 5 things human beings are scared of and you as an employer have a duty to provide effective fire safety training under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 also requires information, instruction, training and supervision to be given to all employees.

It would be very prudent to train all employees in fire safety not only due to the fact that many people fear fires, whether at home or work, but with the aim of having a safer place to work in that will actually be there tomorrow.

Being proactive towards fire safety could save many lives by either preventing a fire from starting in the first place or being able to deal with a fire emergency if one does occur. It also shows that you as an employer care about the safety of your staff both at work and home as they can very easily incorporate what they have learnt at work into their home environment.

Fire safety training comes at a minimal cost compared to the rebuilding costs after a fire - that's if the company is actually able to survive a fire (approximately 80% of SME's dont).
